What?

Please forgive the madness of the hair. It had had a LONG day!

I didn't even get scared or upset. I was really ready for a change and I am quite pleased with how my first "hair cut" (not trim) went...
and a side view for those of you that think I couldn't do it... I didnt just tie my hair up and trick you!

... I really did it!
(p.s. My mom has not seen it yet, I will let you know how that goes)

Fourth of July

This year, we had a really mellow 4th of July. Saturday morning we checked out of Snowbird, drove down the mountain and went to see Transformers (the first one was better). We ran a couple of errands and then went to Suzzi's for a BBQ. After the BBQ, I invited the parents over to light some fireworks that I had in the cupboard from last year. Well, talk about disappointment when we got the two big containers out and they were just those pull string party poppers! So Brady and Maile ran to the firework stand up the street and bought $20 worth of nothing! lol. We go them home and got Eme ready for the bliss.... and this is what she gave us.....

She HATED every minute of it! She would cry and cry, and even when we would clap and try to make it fun, she would clap.....while she cried!

Grandpa is Eme's best buddy. He can comfort her, make her laugh, make her listen, and any other task Eme does, Grandpa can make it better. I LOVE that they are so close and have such a strong relationship. We love you grandpa!

The Zoo

Maybe I am just a lazy mom, but I don't find any joy in the zoo! It's too hot, there are too many people, it stinks, and half the time the animals do NOTHING becuase there is minimal shade for them, and they are exhausted! Maybe it's just that Eme isn't at the age where she gets all excited about the animal thing yet. I don't know, but Bri and Coltin wanted to take Eme to the zoo, so I decided to be a good mom and go with. This is the extent of the zoo...
Eme was eating this banana around the monkey's non the less... and the monkeys started yelling at her! They wanted some of her banana!! So funny. Bananas are one of Eme's favorite things...

the eating elephant....

...not so sure about this one....

...knock, knock little kitty...

disgusting picture of me, but this was the "mommy" thing to do!...

Hula Honey

This year for Lampton Day's in my parents ward, we had a "Hawaiian" theme. Perfect for our family! We decided to do a float for the parade and invite the neighborhood kids to ride on it. Little Em's wasn't too happy to wear her costume at first, but after a minute she LOVED it! How could you not, when you look this cute....

As you can tell, we have the happiest daughter (most of the time). She is such a smart little girl, it amazes me everyday the things she learns. She is such a parrot! She loves to swim, or play in any kind of water for that matter, and has to spend some time outside every day. She is exploring the new kitchen and opening every cupboard and drawer (which there are a ton now!) Her favorite things to do at 15 months is watch non other but the Incredibles. She is in LOVE with this show. I can put her on our bed, and she is glued to the TV! It's so crazy. I have to tell you her favorite part. Elastagirl goes to visit Edna Mole (the little lady that makes their costumes) When they get to her secret shop, Edna goes to do the hand scan, push in the code, and the eye scan. Then she says Edna Mole, and a gun comes out of the ceiling and points at Elastagirl, then Edna says..... and guest. Take a look at Eme in action on that part...

What else can we say about our little Eme, other than she makes us laugh every day. She is such a joy to have in our family, even if we fight all day long. She just has to give me one big smile and she has been forgiven of all the fighting we have done for the day.
We love you baby doll!

does it ever stop???

Brady and I decided that we would do some things to our cute little home, to make it more like "ours". It all started out with simple task of putting a hole in the wall...
Evan showing off one of his many talents...
changed my mind on the straight open and opted for the arch...
Then.... while we are on a roll, let's get a new kitchen! FABULOUS idea, right?!

we had to go from the HUGE window, to the itty bitty one so we could fit some counter tops underneath it.....

patch the siding... we did a siding transplant from the stuff on the house under the carport! :)

patch the wall inside, and then....

we turned the 2 stairs going into our mudroom, into a landing so people wouldn't fall down them and break a leg! We put a wall on one side to keep the noise from the washer and dryer to a minimum.
(Thanks for your help with this, Timm!! )
and last, but definately not least....
this is what we have left. The plumber was supposed to be there today to move the plumbing down so we can finally start putting our cabinets back in. WOOHOO!! When that is finished, then we can tile and put a close to the "inside house" projects for a while! So, if we seem to have disappeared from the world for a while, atleast you know we are keeping busy!

Memorial Day Weedend

(disclaimer: I am not a professional roofer, so don't ask for any help! :) )
While many of you were spending time at the lake, the park, going out of town, and things like that.... this is what we were doing

Re-roofing my parents house! I know, I know, don't be jealous! We spent our weekend, and part of the following week, working on this beauty! (the roof, not my dad) There were many a times I thought I could have thrown a couple of them off the roof (won't mention any names) but look at what it looks like now!!

I want to send out a special thanks to our little man Juan for coming and showing my dad the way the "real roofers" do it. It saved us HOURS AND HOURS of lining things up in the exact measurement apart and in a straight line. It's quite the case of OCD my dad has, but I will be the first to say that as frustrating as it is (and it really is frustrating sometimes) he does some QUALITY work! I love that my dad has so many talents that I can use fully to my advantage! Not only is he knowledgable in many trades, he is one hell of a babysitter! Thank you dad for all you do. Helping you with the roof was the least we could to to help you and mom!

GUESS WHO??

Do you know what the curley hair means in our family??? LOL :)
