Dax LeRoi Jones

(Warning: Labor story, read at your own risk!)

Dax joined our family on Friday March 19th, 2010 at 4:05a.m. Weighing in at 6lbs 10oz and 19inches long. We couldn't be happier to have him here with us 2 1/2weeks early!! His labor was definatly not like his sisters. I woke up Thursday morning super sick. I was throwing up and in and out of the bathroom all day long, there was no way I could have this baby today. Well, around 6p.m. I was starting to feel a lot better. I was finally able to have a piece of toast and a few sips of water to feed my ever growing appetite! Around 9p.m we were laying in bed for the night, and my contractions started coming in a pattern... I was ticked! I wanted this baby to come, but definatly not on a day I was feeling this crappy. So, I tried to talk my body out of a pattern, but to no avail, they were still consistant. I jumped in the tub to see if that would stop the pattern, but they were still coming. My mom called around 9 to see if I needed a blessing, and boy did I, so her and my dad showed up to my house arond 9:30 with Coltin and Brianna and the 3 men (Brady, Dad & Coltin) gave me a blessing that night. I was soooo grateful to have a priesthood blessing. I had my mom and dad take Eme just incase I was really in labor this time, and dragged Brady outside with me to go on a walk to see what my contractions were going to do. Well, they started to get closer together, and a little bit stronger, so I decided that we would go to the hospital, and cross our fingers that they wouldn't send us home. We got to the hospital around 11:00 and got checked in and hooked up to the monitors and were admited to a Labor and Delivery room by 1:30ish. I walked up and down the hallways for about 30 min and decided that after my i.v. for my positive Strep B test, I would get into the tub and see if I liked that. I labored in the tub for about 30 min and decided I didn't like it and got out. By this time the contractions were just a couple of minutes apart and getting to be very strong. I got out and went to the side of my bed and labored there for about 20min when I was getting the feeling to push. So, with my mom holding my hands and helping me through the labor, I started pushing with the contractions. The nurse that was helping me that night told me that I couldn't push with the contractions, because she just checked me and I still had the lip of my cervix or whatever in the way, and if I pushed and the head of the baby was pushing on that lip, it could swell and result in a c-section. Well, little did she know, my body was telling me something different. Oh yeah, and the midwife wasn't at the hospital yet to deliver my little Dax. Anyway, my body was saying push and I couldn't tell it any different so I was trying not to push, but was still pushing. Finally a couple of contractions later, the midwife showed up and on the bed I went for her to check me. I was at a 9 and the only thing that was keeping this baby in, was the sack of fluid he was still in. As the midwife was getting the tool to break my water, I felt the urge to push yet again, and BOOM hahaha... I broke my water all over the midwife. It was GO TIME! Just 2 or 3 pushes later, Dax joined this world as my son.

Now I only put my labor story on here so that one day when I want to remember how crazy I was I can look up this post and be reminded that I am crazy! Plus, I can never remember anything, and if Dax ever wants to know for some random reason what the day was like when he was born, I can refer back to this post. All though Dax was a more intense labor than Eme was, he was the easier of the two. Could be that I was so sick and exhausted for being sick the whole day before labor and had NOTHING in my stomach that made it all so intense. But, like they always say... It was totally worth it! We LOVE our little boy!

Dax's first day home... we only had to stay in the hospital for 36hours...WOOHOO!!

I liked reading your labor story. It reminded me of mine when I had Corbin. A bit different, but similar. I remember during labor that I pulled my I.V. out so after Corbin came out, they had to give me my medicine in my leg. Stupid I.V.'s!!!! Dax is so cute and I am glad that we got to meet him finally!
